Our Story
The Birth of the Preparing for Eternity Choir
The Preparing for Eternity Choir was born from collaborative worship events between Wrightsboro Baptist Church and Hampstead Baptist Church. Craig Johnson (Pastor of Worship and Discipleship at Wrightsboro Baptist) and Michael Compton (Music Director at Hampstead Baptist) recognized something powerful happening when believers from different congregations joined their voices in worship.
What began as occasional combined events has grown into a regional worship initiative that brings together singers from 9+ churches across the Cape Fear Network of Baptist Churches. The choir now features over 80 voices united in purpose: to worship God with excellence and unity.
Our Name
Why “Preparing for Eternity”?
Our name comes from a profound truth: worship is the one activity we practice in our churches now that we will continue doing for all eternity. When we gather to sing praises to God, we are literally preparing for eternity—rehearsing for that day when believers from every tribe, tongue, and nation will worship before God’s throne with one voice.
Each rehearsal and performance serves as both preparation for heaven and a witness to our community of the unity possible when believers focus on our eternal purpose.
Our Leadership
